Since there are no solidly colored yellow areas, it is possible the map is designated all those areas within yellow outline as the areas referred to. The map is based on a Bellin map of Haiti which dates to the circa 1764 and was updated by Peter Charles Varle during his brief time in Haiti in the late 1780s and early 1790s. Since Varle was based Philadelphia during this period, it is certainly possible that Varle collaborated on this map with Carey who was also based in Philadelphia.
