Description
Antique early twentieth century solid brass yachtsmans signal cannon. Barrel is engraved "Sold by Charles C Hutchinson, 152 State Street, Boston." Hutchinson operated from 1893 to 1932 as a ship chandler selling lanterns, compasses, charts, cannon, etc. This is a breech load cannon that receives 10 gauge blank shells. Fitted to a hardwood carriage with many brass fittings. Two wheels on axle, (cone wheel has a split). Barrel length 15". Overall length 18". Width 11". Bore is 7/8 tns' inch. Height 9"
