America, 19th century. A deed that includes Ezekiel S. Haines and Stephen Wilder for land in Cincinnati as once part of the survey of the Northwest Territory during the early 1800s.
Ezekiel S. Haines was appointed in 1838 as the Surveyor General of the Northwest Territory after the position made during the creation of the Land Act of 1796. Rufus Putnam of Marietta, OH was the first to hold this position and is known as "Father of the Northwest Territory."
