Description
Colima, Mexico ca 250 BCE - 200 AD. A seated male figure, legs spread, sitting upright and holding cup towards his mouth with both hands as if partaking in a ceremony. He wears a tunic, peaked cap, and ear spools. Red and red-brown burnished slip. Dimensions: 14-1/4" H. Provenance: The Lands Beyond, 2007 acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023. Original documentation included.
