Description
Egyptian–Late Period, ca. 700-300 BCE. Facial section of a limestone sarcophagus showing a man's face with deep-set eyes, well formed nose and raised thin lipped mouth. Large ears at sides and simple domed head wrap. Dimensions: 11" H x 13" W. + custom stand. Provenance: Ex New York trade, acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023. Original purchase doc accompanies lot.
