**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chavin, ca. 1200 to 500 BCE; Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Mayan Territories, Maya, Late Classic period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A wonderful gathering of three Pre-Columbian pottery items. First is a petite Chavin brownware whistle with a trapezoidal form, a pair of blow holes on the mouthpiece, four tone holes near the midsection, and an integral suspension loop on the verso. Second is a small Mayan jar with a flat base, in-curved rim, and sloping shoulders decorated with brick-red stripes and black-painted abstract geometric motifs. Last is a larger Mayan bowl with a thick rim, shallow interior cavity, and a pair of abstract serpentine designs atop a cream ground. A beautiful ensemble! Size of largest (Mayan bowl): 2.25" W x 5" H (5.7 cm x 12.7 cm).

Condition
Mayan jar repaired from several pieces with some new material, overpainting, and small chips along break lines. Mayan bowl has small loss to area of rim. All items have age-commensurate surface wear and abrasions, fading and chipping to pigmentation, and some discoloration, otherwise very good. Light earthen deposits throughout. Chavin whistle produces sound when used.
