Apollo XI Launch Ticket, No. 67

An invitation ticket, No. 67, for the launch of Apollo 11 at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Signed in print by Kurt H. Debus, Director. With the Apollo 11 mission emblem on the front of the invitation, and details from NASA on verso. The ticket is issued to the bearer "for his sole, exclusive, personal use". Measuring 5" x 3", Kennedy Space Center, dated ca. July 16, 1969. With light toning at the edges and ghosting of the NASA logo on verso. Faint wear and foxing to the edges and corners, overall very good.

The Apollo XI mission saw the first landing of humans on the Moon on July 20, 1969. An estimated one million spectators watched the launch of Apollo XI from the highways and beaches in the vicinity of the launch site, while multiple dignitaries also attended, including 19 state governors, 40 mayors, 60 ambassadors, and 200 congressmen. With nearly 3,500 media representatives in attendance, the launch was televised live in 33 countries, with an estimated 25 million viewers in the United States alone. Those who were unable to find a live television feed turned to other measures, with millions around the world listening to radio broadcasts.
