Silk scarf woven with a vignette design depicting astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface, standing in front of the Eagle module. Flanked by motifs of space shuttles and patriotic imagery, bordered by a pattern of American flags. Bearing a tag from Creazione Serica Lariana of Como, Italy at bottom left. Light creasing and folds throughout, else fine. Unfolded, the scarf measures to an impressive size of 30" x 30".

Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the office of silk maker C. M. Gourdon, dated July 20, 1969. Reading in part:

"This scarf commemorates our Astronaut's Trip to the Moon and is the official U.S.A. scarf ordered by N.A.S.A. It was given as a souvenir to the Officials attending the Apollo Flight? None of these scarves have ever been sold commercially up to date."
