London, June 15, 1967. One sheet, 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 in. (190 x 121 mm). Autograph letter, on Buckingham Palace stationery, signed by Queen Elizabeth II, to a Major David, declining an invitation to a cocktail party later that month on account of an already planned dinner with Prime Minister Harold Wilson and the Canadian High Commissioner, Sir Henry John Bevis Lintott: "Dear Major David,/It is extremely kind/of you and Mrs. David to/ask me to the cocktail/party you are giving on/June 27th, and regret/very much that owing to the/fact that the Prime Minister/comes on Tuesday evenings/and we are also dining/with the Canadian High/Commissioner before our visit/to Canada, I shall be unable/to accept your invitation,/which is very sad./Thank you very much all/the same for asking me./Yours sincerely/Elizabeth R." Creased from original fold, and in fine condition.
