Transmittal letter written to Commissioner William M. Crane, Commandant U.S. Navy Yard Portsmouth, N.H." regarding the discharge request of Lyman Jackson (not present). Docket on back reads: "Navy Dept. May 30, 1836. With letter from Lyman Jackson soliciting his discharge." Standard transmittal folds, boldly written on clean wove period paper.
