Description
GEORGE J. BETOR (1923-1986) American major general. In his lengthy military career, Betor held every rank from private to gunnery sergeant and from 2nd lieutenant to major general. He served as a Marine in the Pacific Theater before being transferred to an aircraft carrier, and participated in most of the major naval battles of the Pacific Theatre. Later he served as commanding general of the 50th Armored Division. Two-star cotton flag issued to General Betor, 36 x 48 in., red dyed nylon/wool construction with two large white stars sewn to either side, reinforced hoist with brass grommets, with stamp showing issuance from Defense Personnel Support Center, 1979. Purchased directly from Betor's estate. Fine.
