Description
**Originally Listed At $500**

Near East, Holy Land, ca. 1st millennium BCE; Roman Holy Land, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely ensemble of 10 pottery vessels: 3 bowls, 2 pitchers, 3 jars, and 2 oil lamps. The larger pitcher has a globular body, and narrow spout with a wide neck and flared lip, and the other has a rounded body and strap handle from midsection to flared lip. The jars consist of the largest piece - a terracotta jug with a flat base incised with a X-shape and textured exterior and rolled rim - and a piriform jar with a slender neck, a gently flared rim, and a spherical vessel that has a narrow opening on the top. The largest bowls are nearly perfectly hemispherical with an outturned lip, the smallest rests on a ring foot and is painted with bands of beige and terracotta. The oil lamps are mold formed, one with a raised linear surface motif and the other a terracotta with a flared spout. Size (largest vessel): 7.5" W x 11" H (19 cm x 27.9 cm); (smallest bowl): 2.5" Diameter x 1.75" H (6.4 cm x 4.4 cm)
