Description
**First Time At Auction**
Near East, Holy Land, ca. 1st millennium BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A lovely ensemble of 4 pottery vessels: 2 pitchers and 2 oil lamps. Each of the pitchers sits on a round yet stable base and presents a globular body, a slender neck, and a gently flared rim. The larger boasts a vibrant red surface with liberal remains of black-painted designs and a strap handle connecting the base of the neck to the side of the body. Alternatively, the more petite pitcher is enveloped in a black-hued glaze and displays a ribbon-form handle connecting just below the rim to the shoulder edge. The pair of oil lamps, on the other hand, both exhibit ring-form bases, circular fill holes, wicked spouts, and relief decoration. One lamp additionally showcases a nubbin handle at the back. Size (of largest): 3.8" Diameter x 5.3" H (9.7 cm x 13.5 cm)

Condition
Chipping to rim of largest pitcher and spout of 1 lamp. All have expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, all are intact and excellent with nice earthen deposits.
