Description
Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 100 to 400 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel adorned with a vibrantly colored depiction of the Anthropomorphic Mythical Being. The round-bottomed vessel exhibits a carinated lower body, sloped walls with a gently curved shoulder, and an arching handle bridged between a pair of conical spouts. Highly burnished and illustrated with hues of crimson, citrine, cream, wheat, jet black, and lavender, the body presents the Anthropomorphic Mythical Being with broad whiskers, a grand headdress, a lengthy body lined to his feet with trophy heads, and a massive tongue bearing a secondary AMB head on its tip. Size: 6" Diameter x 7.1" H (15.2 cm x 18 cm)

Abrasions and chipping to painted exterior details in scattered areas, with surface wear to spout tips, handle, and base, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation of pigment and iconography throughout.
