Description
**Originally Listed At $925**
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca, ca. 1400 to 1530 CE. A double-spouted, double chambered brownware vessel presenting an endearing figure sitting with upraised knees atop one of the spouts, pouring what is likely chicha beer from a large aryballos - quite apropos as this vessel was likely used to serve chicha as well. The figure presents with an expressive wide-eyed visage and dons an elaborate headdress incised with fur or feather motifs, that falls to either side of his face as well as down his back. The overall form is comprised of twin vessels - both with rounded bodies, tubular necks, and flared rims - joined by a bridge between the spouts and a tubular connection between the vessel bodies. A beautiful example with a finely burnished finish. Size: 7.75" W x 7.5" H (19.7 cm x 19 cm)
Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-Musical Museum, Phoenix, Arizona USA; ex-Kalina Musical Collection, California USA; ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany, collected from 1950 to 1960s
