**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of two hand-built pottery artifacts from ancient Jalisco: a standing female figure and a bulbous, two-chambered whistle. The standing woman presents nude with red pigment on her ankles and mandible, light yellow pigment creating swirls on her breasts, and an elongated head topped with a simple cap. The whistle features a bicorn mouthpiece, two spherical chambers, a cylindrical body incised with serpentine grooves, and 3 tone holes; the whistle no longer creates sound when air is blown into it. Size (figure): 2.55" W x 5.3" H (6.5 cm x 13.5 cm); (whistle): 1.2" W x 5.625" H (3 cm x 14.3 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
Figure has chips to toes and hands, with light encrustations and abrasions. Whistle has light abrasions, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to pigment on figure. Whistle no longer creates sound when air is blown into it.
