Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero State, Xochipala culture, Mesoamerican Formative Period, ca. 13th to 10th century BCE. A lovely hand-built pottery figure of a standing female presenting bulbous legs, a slender waist with an incised navel, risen breasts, and square shoulders. Capped by a centrally parted coiffure, her ovoid head displays a tall forehead, slender, slanted eyes with incised pupils, a broad nose, and a light smile. A pair of annular earspools flank her stylized visage. Size: 1.5" W x 4.25" H (3.8 cm x 10.8 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
