Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A tall female figure made from a flat slab of pottery. With coffee bean eyes and mouth and several applied and incised details giving hair, clothing, and jewelry, as well as small breasts, the figure is both abstract and clearly human. The giant nose and elongated forehead may hint at beauty standards in this society. These flat figures are a signature artwork of the Colima people from the Tecoman area, although their purpose - aside from being placed in graves - is not known. Comes with custom stand. Size: 4.9" W x 12.45" H (12.4 cm x 31.6 cm)
