AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN, watercolor, pencil, and gouache on paper, waist-length depiction of a seated figure in Empire-style gown attire with bonnet, signed "Kidder" and dated "1849" lower right. Housed under glass in a period black-painted molded wood frame. Dated 1849. 3 7/8" x 3 1/4" sight, 5 3/8" x 4 3/4" OA.
Very good overall visual condition. Frame with minor wear. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
