Description
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period, 19th to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1292 to 712 BCE. An intriguing mold-formed faience scarab with characteristic insectile features but with a stylized, laterally-elongated human face reminiscent of the goddess Hathor. The underside features an intricately-incised symbol of four segmented petals within eight curved curvilinear striations forming a rough cruciform border. A fine example covered in lustrous turquoise-hued glaze. Size: 0.8" L x 0.6" W (2 cm x 1.5 cm); 2.4" H (6.1 cm) on included custom stand.
