Description
An Egyptian limestone plaque depicting Bes, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the god, with tall feathered headdress, stands atop the backs of two crocodiles, holding a sword above his head with his right hand and clutches a serpent in his left; at his feet to his right is a cat with left paw raised. H: 4 3/5 in (11.6cm). A nice example with light mineral deposits. Ex Kellaway collection, Massachusetts; Danforth Museum, Framingham, MA.
