Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, Mezcala culture, ca. 400 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved and string-cut anthropomorphic figure in a deep mottled green stone, probably diorite. The figure has a tall head with delineated eyes and neck created using the string-cut technique; it also displays a small rough patch representative of a mouth. The body has rounded shoulders and gradually tapers to an acutely-angled base. The base also has a groove in the center which delineates one 'leg' from another. Custom stand included. Size: 4.25" H (10.8 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.
