Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A beautiful free-blown jar made from semi-translucent, orange-brown glass with a concave base and rough pontil scar, a globular body with a rounded shoulder, a squat neck, and a flared, in-folded rim. The body exhibits fourteen pinched tabs along the midsection which give it a textured gripping area in the absence of handles. Sections of the rim display fiery areas of rainbow iridescence, though most of the body is enveloped in dense areas of brilliant golden iridescence. Size: 4" W x 3.625" H (10.2 cm x 9.2 cm).

Vessel repaired from multiple large pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small pitting holes across body, with minor nicks to rim, body and base, and light roughness across most surfaces. Nice earthen deposits as well as rainbow and golden iridescence throughout.
