1857 Ste. Helene Napoleon I military medal, 1857 Medal given to veterans who fought in the military campaign at Ste. Helene in 1821, copper, with bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, original hanging ring, 2"h x 1.25"w.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of Charles E. Sigety. The late Charles E. Sigety was a renowned collector of Americana, ranging from examples of Norman Rockwell to important historic documents.
Notes/Literature: This lot available for inspection at the gallery 9am-4pm, Monday through Friday. The Saint Helena Medal (French: Medaille de Sainte-Helene) was the first French campaign medal. It was established in 1857 by a decree of emperor Napoleon III to recognize participation in the campaigns led by Emperor Napoleon I
