**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery standing statuette known as a "gingerbread" figure, so named because of the flat presentation of the body. The warrior figure stands on delineated legs with bent knees, has conical arms falling from angular shoulders, wears an incised vest, and boasts a beaded necklace around his neck. The elongated head boasts incised eyes, a slender nose, a thin mouth above a rounded chin, and shell-adorned ears, all beneath an intricate headdress. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2.5" W x 5.125" H (6.4 cm x 13 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

Condition
Right arm reattached, with minor chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Light fading to some incised details, and small nicks and abrasions across body, limbs, and head. Light earthen deposits and manganese blooms throughout.
