Description

Antonio Abbondanti IL BREVIARIO DELLE GUERRE DE PAESI BASSI 1641 Antique Vellum Cologne Italy Colonia Breviary Wars Netherlands Anti-Spanish Revolt 1559 Dedication Monsignor Fabio Chigi Pope Alexander VII
Title: Il Breviario del le Guerre de Paesi Bassi
Author: Antonio Abbondanti - Antonio Abbondanti (Imola) was an Italian writer and poet.

At the service of Pier Luigi Carafa, governor of Fermo, then bishop of Tricarico and, from June 1624 to September 1634, apostolic nuncio to Cologne, the Abbondanti held the office of secretary of the nunciature, assuming also the interim in 1652.

In the German city published in 1625 the satirical poem and heroicomic Journey of Cologne telling of the journey undertaken by Fermo in Rome and in Colonia with Carafa, referring to a model already used by other writers such as Cesare Caporali, Francesco Berni and Camillo Scroffa. In 1630, after another trip to the Netherlands, he published in Antwerp, the sacred poem La Giuditta, the sacred, moral and miscellaneous rhymes, dedicated to Carafa, from which it is noted, in particular, that the Abbondanti had been a member of the "Accademia degli Avvivati" of Bologna, and a Eulogy of the Count of Tilly, the latter under the pseudonym of Ercole Cristiano.

Again in Cologne, in 1641 he published the Breviary of the Wars of the Netherlands , narrating the anti-Spanish revolt of 1559.
