ENGLISH CERAMIC FIGURES, LOT OF TWO comprising a creamware dog sitting on base, with Whieldon-type underglaze polychrome decoration and an earthenware monkey sitting on base, with Rockingham-type glaze. Both open-bottomed. Late 18th century/early 19th century. 2 1/2" HOA.
Each with some flakes to bases, areas of restoration, and some wear to raised areas. Dog with some firing separations and other flaws, as made.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA. All proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisition Fund.
