Egypt, 1st Intermediate Period-early Middle Kingdom, c. 2160-1991 BC; A larger example, possibly an overseer from a boat model. Lovely details to face and hair. Custom wood base.
Height without base: 9 1/4" (23.5cm)
Published: A Passion for the Past, Hurst Gallery, Cambridge, MA 1997. Ex. Cairo Museum, paper label (now lost): "Boatman from Funery (sic) Bark. Cairo Museum. 1906. C.M.L.". The paper label described in the Hurst catalog as well as the wood base, is now lost.
