Description
Believed to be from the Edo period, these three menuki and one Kozuka are small works of art. The round Menuki are all bird themed and at first glance, they look identical, but close look shows slight variations due to being hand crafted. Each shows 2 birds on branches and random flowers and are approx 1". The Kozuka or small knife handle shows what appear to be shishi dogs on each side. It is approx 3 3/4" long by 1/2" wide.
Condition
A crack along the opening of the Kozuka. One Menuki has a modification for an eventual conversion to jewelry
