Height: 68.0 mm; Width: 63.2 mm; Thickness: 3.7 mm; Weight: 86 g

Very well forged iron tsuba of oval form decorated with a grass hopper (shakudo body with golden antennas and limbs) climbing an aubergine inlaid in gold in high relief. Crescent moon is inlaid in shibuichi; grasses on both sides inlaid in brass, gold and shakudo. Nakago-ana with copper fittings (sekigane), kogai hitsu-ana plugged with shakudo. Signed: Nara Shigeharu saku.Provenance: Alan Hartman.
