Origin: Japan

Date: Edo period, 18th century

Materials: Brass, shakudo, gold, copper

Dimensions: 96.1 x 14.3 x 4.3 mm

Brass kozuka with design of two bats and the crescent moon; themoon is inlaid in silver, one bat is of shakudo, another in of red copper, both bats colored with gold iroe. Signed Miboku, with seal Shozui. Hamano Shôzu (1696–1769) of Hamano School. Similar pieces in MFA and V&A museums.
