Item: Iron tsuba carved and inlaid with gold, NBTHK TOKUBETSU KICHO TOKEN Certification.

Origin: Japan

Date: Edo period

Materials: Iron, gold, shakudo

Dimensions: 75.3 x 73.1 x 4.0 mm

Iron tsuba of oval form carved and inlaid in gold with a diaper design built on the swastika motif (sayagata). A section of the diaper performed in openwork (ito-sukashi). Shakudo fukurin. Unsigned. Seller attributed the piece to Heianjo school; NBTHK paper allegedly says it's mid-Muromachi period. Tokubetsu Kicho Token Certificate.
