Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful and lengthy mace head, hand-carved from a mottled pale-green stone with light inclusions. The main body is elongated and conical in composition, with an integral triangular finial on the longer end. The actual mace 'head' is tall and cylindrical, with four circular projections along the lateral circumference and twin bulbs extending vertically from the top of the weapon. Tubular examples like this would have been bound perpendicular to a sturdy wooden shaft using reeds or textile strands to craft a formidable weapon. Comes with custom display stand. Size: 8" L x 2" H (20.3 cm x 5.1 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.
