Description

Richard H. O’Kane (1911-1994) Admiral. O’Kane was a United States Navy submarine commander in World War II, who received a Medal of Honor for his service on the Tang, leading Tang to the most successful record of any U.S. submarine ever. He also received three Navy Crosses and three Silver Stars, for a total of seven awards of the United States military's three highest decorations for valor in combat. Before commanding Tang, His book, Clear the Bridge, Rand McNally & Company, 1978, signed on the title page “To fellow submariner Arthur Schelling who participated in USS Harder with special pleasure Richard H. O’Kane Dec. 21, 1979”. Slight damage to the dust jacket at the lower margin on the spine else excellent.
