(1741 - 1804) Irish-American physician, soldier, and statesman, represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress, and convinced Col. William Crawford to lead the ill-fated expedition against Indians along the Sandusky River, which ended in Crawford's brutal execution. A.D.S. 1p. 12mo., a partly-printed check engrossed and signed by Irvine, Philadelphia, May 12, 1804 making a $28.00 payment to "Jno. Hunter". Signature slightly affected by minor damp stain, else fine.
