Description
A cranberry red fixed globe lantern. In the 1800s there was not standard color code so railroads used what ever they wanted. This all changed by WWI. The cranberry is a solid color and not an applied (flashed) thin coat under a clear globe. One picture shows one layer of glass (picture looking up from the bottom). The globe is bulbous. It displays 7" and the overall height is 13" without the bail. The frame has a flat band bail, star-diamond-star vents and 6 point star intakes. There is a split in the bell. No worries 95% of the value is in the heavy fixed globe. The top flange on the globe is very pronounced. For some reason it has a brass pinch pot. These are much harder to find than a tin pinch pot. The brass burner seems like a replacement to me. Again. it's about the globe.
