Boston & Albany Cast B&A RR Fixed Globe Lantern

Item Details

Description

An unusual lantern frame with a Star Headlight upper and C. T. Ham base. It's also a tin top rather than a brass top. The globe is a 6" (5 1/2" visible) with B&A RR cast is serifed letters n a rectangular panel. It's worth noting that unlike removable lanterns, serif lettering on a B&A is later and not earlier. That the base and top are interchangeable from 2 different manufacturers is interesting. The base also has a "3 wire" provision. This is 3 holes stamped at 120 degrees so that 2 vertical wires could be used. The top does not have the 3 hole punch. There was never any solder on the base holes. I am not keen on the burner in this lantern but it could easily be changed out. Clean metal.
