ENGLISH AMERICAN HISTORICAL CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF TWO, comprising one blue transfer-printed plate marked for Mellow, Venebles & Co., having the "Arms of the States" including Ohio, Georgia, South Carolina, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Alabama around the rim, and one plate marked "IRONSTONE" on the base with the arms of the state of Maryland in the center, and New York, North Carolina, and Massachusetts on the rim. Staffordshire, England. Circa 1840. 7 5/8" and 8 7/16" D.
Excellent undamaged condition with expected glaze crazing.
