ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED AMERICAN VIEW / FISHING MOTIF CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF FOUR, each having red/pink transfer scenes, comprising two soup plates featuring "HEAD WATERS / OF THE JUNIATA / U.S.", as printed to underside, depicting a figure with fishing pole on a ramshackle bridge, and two examples having fish bowl and seashell borders including one portraying a man casting with basket on back and net at feet and one with figure standing in water with pole on shoulder, perhaps tying a fly. Additional printed marks include printed fishing accouterments with "FISHERMAN / E.W. & S." William Adams IV & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent; Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem, England. Second/third quarter 19th century. 8 1/4" to 10 1/2" D.
One undamaged, except each having some minor usage wear; smallest example with chip to foot ring and minor flake to rim underside; one soup plate with chip to foot ring and one with light hairline to well.
