Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Vicus, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A bichrome terracotta stirrup vessel featuring a seated nude male figure with both arms raised to his tump line affixed to carry several miniature ceramic jars that rest upon the bridge. The figure's form is wonderfully detailed with coffee-bean shaped eyes and mouth, a projecting long nose, a prominent circular belly button, male genitalia, and incised fingers and toes. The upper face of the vessel is adorned with a stylized geometrics in white on red ground. Size: 6.5" H (16.5 cm)
