Item Details
Description
A large Greek Tanagra hollow-cast pottery figure of a robed woman, c. 3rd - 2nd Century BC, veiled and wearing chiton and himation, she stands with her weight on her left leg, right arm on her breast and left grasping a fold of her dress, which has retained a bit of its original pigment. These figurines were made primarily in the Boeotian town of Tanagra, and most commonly depict real woman (sometimes men and boys) in everyday dress with familiar accessories. H: 13 ¼ in (33.6 cm). Repaired at the neck, some minor losses and antique restoration to edge of base. A large and impressive Greek figure! Ex Property from the Estate of Emily and Milton Rose.
