Dimensions: 44.7cm L x 44.7cm W x 8cm H
Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Dragon Porcelain Plate. The dish plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick large, raised on correspondence footed ring base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base colour which contrast against blue colour, depicted of Ruyi shaped large pendants filled by scrolling clouds, interspersed by floral and fruiting banquets. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
