This previously folded and now gel-backed insert has had restoration to issues, including a fourth slightly diagonal crease, corner creasing in the lower corners, and a tear from the right border to the center. There have been sporadic airbrushing and touch-ups, especially to the tan background, center fold lines, and around the credits. There is a clean upper border tear since being backed, and it has been reinforced with archival tape.

Director Michael Curtiz made 13 films with Errol Flynn, three in 1940 alone, including this superb swashbuckler set in the Elizabethan era. Flynn stars as the privateer Captain Geoffrey Thorpe, who loots ships on behalf of England without the blessing of the Queen (Flora Robson). The film offers danger on the high seas, swordplay, and high romance.
