Description
DESTINATION MOON
One-Sheet (27" x 41")
Very Fine+ on Linen
Pathe, 1950
At the start of the space age, there were few films on space travel; this is an early one with a screenplay by Robert Heinlein. As a former engineer, Heinlein was interested in scientific realism and co-wrote the script for this film based on one of his early novels. This is an early and desirable science fiction poster.
This is an excellent example of this one-sheet that has been conserved on linen. Minor touchups have been applied to this poster's fold lines and three center points. There is also a tiny touch of airbrush to the ends of the middle horizontal fold and a small hole in the yellow background on the bottom left.
Unlike more fantastical 50s sci-fi films, Destination Moon took a more practical approach, thoughtfully envisioning what a real manned mission to the Moon might look like, with a screenplay co-written by author Robert A. Heinlein.
This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, December 7th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on December 8th.
