Description
North Africa, Morocco, Fez (Fes) region, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful earthenware vessel known as a mokhfia, with lovely hand painted polychrome patterns. The bowl rests on a ring foot and the walls swell outward to from a shallow basin and wide rim. The exterior is painted with blue, white, and green motifs in foliage, checkers, and zigzagging patterns. Mokhfias are used for serving couscous and other foodstuffs. Size: 13" Diameter x 2.75" H (33 cm x 7 cm)
