Chuck Yeager Signed Photo with F-20 Tigershark
An 8" x 10" black and white photograph depicting Chuck Yeager posing in front of a Northrop F-20 Tigershark, ca. 1983. Signed and inscribed by the pilot at lower right: "To Mike Coen/ Good luck/ Chuck Yeager". Yeager, then retired, was hired by Northrop to be a spokesperson for the new aircraft, which he flew on two separate occasions. Minimal edge toning, else near fine.
Chuck Yeager (1923-2020) was a flying ace and record-setting test pilot. During the Second World War, he was promoted to flight officer and is credited with shooting down 11.5 enemy aircrafts on the Western Front. After the war, Yeager became a test pilot and flew numerous experimental aircrafts for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. On October 14, 1947, Yeager broke the sound barrier in a dangerous, top-secret flight not disclosed to the public until a year later.
