A carved wooden wall panel featuring a Kifwebe society mask face and stylized form, heavy earthen pigments throughout. Please note the anthropomorphic figure carved on the back, also an area of erosion. Songye peoples, Kifwebe society, DRC/ Congo, central Africa. The panel measures 19 x 8.5 inches. Provenance: Field Collected in 1955 by Rev. Lawson Mooney, Also Ex Kenneth Adleman collection, also Ex Private New Jersey collection.
Condition
fair, well weathered and worn, eroded on back.
