Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved stone axe god figure, of characteristically abstract form, standing atop a pair of string-cut legs. Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA, acquired before 1995
