Standard 1860s Uhlinger 32 caliber rimfire revolver in fair to good condition. Lacks loading gate and ejector rod, otherwise very good. This is housed in a late 1800s form fitted leatherette case. In 1860 the 32 rimfire was cutting edge new technology. It remained state of the art ammo for decades, and all early 32 caliber guns remained in use for a generation or two.. because the ammunition was readily available anywhere and very cheap. This revolver may have been dealer cased for resale on the secondary market in the late cowboy era.
Uhlinger reportedly marked his guns with the names of other dealers and makers for anonymity to avoid law suits for copying the Rollin White bored through cylinder patent which belonged to Smith & Wesson. This gun is twice marked J.P. Lower... a famous gun dealer in Denver. And the J.P. Lower stamp on the right is stamped over another Uhlinger fraudulent stamp of D.D. Cone Washington DC.
