Description
Model 1851 Colt Navy revolver. SN 112,171 made in 1861, all matched INCLUDING the wedge. Frame, cylinder, and barrel plated with tin or nickel. I'm leaning toward nickel. Barrel has New York address. No cylinder scene visible. Pitting on cylinder. Tight action. 100% original, 100% complete, mechanically perfect. Interestingly, the walnut grips are military finished with linseed oil, not varnished. With this in mind I wonder if the finish might be tin as we occasionally see tin finish on sea service pistols. And that might explain the oil finished grips. Small letter -R- on left shoulder of trigger guard. Plating is mostly intact with some flaking as shown. Very early war Colt that is worthy of further research.
